Whats the difference between a mpeg and a movie file? Will there be a issue when I try to record both onto a dvd? The files are music videos and I will be making a menu for them also. Thanks.

  2. A movie file is just a generic term for all video files (as far as I'm concerned). An mpeg is one type of movie file; others include avi, wmv, vob, etc. To have an mpeg play on a dvd player, it has to have the ability to play them in the first place. Check the player's manual. Otherwise, to get the mpeg to play on a dvd, the mpeg file needs to be "authored" into files recognised by dvd players ie. an audio_TS folder and a video_TS folder. You need software that can do this like Nero, Womble Video Wizard, DVD Author Pro, etc. Once these two folders are created, they are then burned onto a disc. Some of the authoring programs have this feature as part of the process, some don't so you need a burning program to get it to the disc. When you look at a dvd file structure, you will find the two folders listed. Althought the audio_TS folder is empty, it is required, so don't delete it. Hope this helps.

It only may be required on a few older players, AFAIK. I don't add it any more to my DVDs and haven't for a couple of years. But it takes up very little room, so it won't hurt to add it if you want.
