    Codec packs = bad news.

The first place to start with any video playback problems is G-Spot. It will tell you what codecs are being used, and if you have them installed.

You can also use VLC for playback of most codecs without the need to install the codecs themselves. It travels with decoders for most formats built-in.

If you have problems reading the G-spot info, post a screenshot here and someone will help out.

  3. thank you, but i use Avicodec instead of Gspot, it is the same as Gspot. it tells me the codecs of the video and it says it's all suppourted.

    here is the info:

    File: 787 MB (827 MB), duration: 0:15:32, type: MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 75 %

    Video : 777 MB, 7000 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 720*576 (4:3), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported

    Audio : 49 MB, 448 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM [0x80], Supported

I really hate VLC and don't want to use it, this videos played normally before on my computer, i just reinstalled windows and now i need to set up all the codecs i had before again, so there for sure was something, that made it play before.

    It's MPEG2, not AVI.

    What's to hate ? It's small(ish), fast, and self-contained.

And yes, it's mpeg2. It could well be in an avi container, but you need an mpeg2 decoder to see it.

type: MPG, so it isn't an avi. Also for avi not just any MPEG-2 decoder will do.
