Hi, can anyone recommend a DVR in the $100-150 range? No hard drive is necessary, but I need a tv tuner, and the recorded discs need to play on other machines. I'd prefer a brand that will not be disappearing soon.
thanks,
brad

You did not mention what kind of TV tuner and if you are in the US. ATSC tuners are now appearing as required by law in the US but it also limits the choices available.

Doesn't DVR stand for Digital Video Recorder? And AFAIK, all DVRs come with an HDD?
Are you looking for a DVD Recorder instead? -
Models disappear with regularity as cost reductions continue.
I have both a Lite-On LW-5005 (discontinuted) and an Insignia (Best-Buy rebadged LG) DVD-R1.
The LG is a more solid unit with a better tuner. The Lite-On has firmware updates, the Insignia/LG has not.
I find either maker preferable to RCA or Magnavox in the price segment you have identified. -
oh-- I'm in the US, so it's NTSC. With regard to ATSC, I'm fine with getting an older--but recent-- model via ebay, etc, as well.
thx,
brad
