I recently bought component cords for my dvd player, and when i plugged them in, the image was there, but it had a blue tinge to it. i know that its not my tv, because it is ok with everything else. and my dvd player does have component jacks, so i know it can handle it.

    any suggestions?

Are you sure each cable is plugged into the proper sockets? Or all the connectors are making proper contact?

Is this the first time you have used the component connections on the TV or the player ?

Who's to say one of these isn't faulty.

For analog component, the green connector carries the Y monochrome detail.

If you pull off the Pr (red) connector, the picture goes green.

If you pull off the Pb (blue) connector, the picture goes pinkish purple.

I hate to be Mr Obvious, but did you setup the DVD player to output over component? I seem to recall having a similar issue with my player when it was setup to output on S-Video, switching the output (in the video setup menu) to component solved the problem.

im sure that all the connections are making full contact, and i am pretty sure that the tv's component sockets are all working. i tried connecting the dvd player to both of the tv's component connections, and i get the same thing. i am starting to think that the red connector on the dvd player is faulty. i can switch the cables around on the dvd player, and the picture comes out in different shades. (red blue or green) and ive noticed that the red socket never works. so i think that might be the problem.

but Krispy Kritter has a good idea too. but i dont think that my dvd player has a setup menu.
if it did, how would i get to it?

  7. Look for a "Setup" or "Menu" button on your remote. You might well have a bad connector on the Pr (red) channel, but that's usually easy to fix, just touch up the solder joint.
