Hello from the very wet north of England!
I wonder if any of you geniusses/ genii can help me recover a load of photos from a video cd?
The disc was made a couple of years past using "DVD slideshow professional" by anvsoft.
I've tried emailing their support people but continually get my emails bounced - so hopefully someone here might have a workaround?

the individual photos are in a file named "segment" I've tried to play the cd on my 'puter but it only shows the splash screen at the start and will go no further.

I can get the individual photos to show - for a fraction of a second - in Power dvd - but not long enough to pause the damn thing in order to screen capture. The individual files are suffixed - ".dat", or "item####".
In the properties dialogue they're called MPEG video file(s)
I've tried just about all the (available for download) viewers/converters etc, but none of them recognise the format/file!

Can anyone suggest a method to retrieve them - It would save my life as my missus wants to print the photo's off but like a nerd i didn't save 'em aaargh.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome fingerbuster

Extract mpegs from dat using vcdgear .

You can get snaps using almost any player that supports snap shot fuction , some have auto timing .

Or load the mpeg into virtualmod , and save snaps as you move along the time line .

Bjs, Thanks one billion for the info, vcdgear didn't recognise the files - but virtualmod/dub did, - one file at a time unfortunately, but i'm going to be able to work with it.

You're a lifesaver- as is the software author.

    Many thanks again.

    Nic.
