    Please help me...

    I did a search but they ask me to use Lame MP3 and OGC Video Compressor and stuff like that...

    I am trying to put the mkv onto a DVD-R to watch in my dvd player

    I believe you could try with Avidemux 2 , but I have little experience with how well it works. I find MKV containers to be too much a challenge for most of the junk I watch.

    What's in the mkv?

    Use mediainfo to get info,
    or mkvinfo from the mkvtoolnix pack.

    Mkv to dvd?
    Or mkv to divx/xvid avi for playback on divx capable standalone player?

    IIRC, Avisynth's "DirectShowSource" is capable
    to frameserve .mkv files into VirtualDub or TMPGEnc.
