i got a new camera. its a panasonic pvgs-85 and i have a dvd that i got from a film competition and it has interviews of us on it that was sent to the finalists. i want to somehow capture that dvd onto my dv tape so i can put it on the internet (like youtube) and someone told me you have to use the av cable. well i have that, thats the one with the yellow white and red cords? well as of now i just use windows movie maker because vegas isn't working and my friend still has to install his on my computer. is there anyway i can do this without downloading a certain program? sorry i know i must sound stupid to you guys, but i'm really new to this and i tried looking in different forums but i didnt know if it was exactly what i need. thank you!

Using the camera, AV cables, etc. is too roundabout and will add generations of conversion (and quality loss).

    Do this instead:

    1. Rip Disc with DVD Decryptor (or similar), selecting/saving only clip you need.
    2. Convert to what format you need with Super (IIRC, it accepts VOBs).

Only 1 generation (not counting whatever YouTube does with it).

er, why don't you just rip the DVD itself into the PC? instead of going some needlessly complicated route with your DV cam? Unless this is just your way of testing the camera, of course
    edit: gah, jinx!

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!
