  1. I tryed to play LOTR-SVCD(Tcf-release) on my newly bought Pioneer DV-444. The image unregulary freezes for like an half of a second and then continues. That doesn't make the movie very fun to watch.

Tryed with an other movie, "Enemy at the Gates" with the same result.

    What's wrong ? Could it be my CD-burner ?

  2. [I have a similar problem with SVCD I made myself. So, it can't be you burner. I tried other SVCD bitrates without results. Did you try the SVCD with other players ?

  3. I haven't yet but that will be the next thing I'll do in the search for proper SVCD-playback

  4. It looks like you have to make your SVCD's with TMPGEnc, load the SVCD template and burn the SVCD's with VCDeasy. Don't use Nero.

  5. The DV-444 despite all that you might read DOES NOT play SVCD's

my friend has one - it doesn't play them ... sorry have to tell you that

if you just bought it get a 343 ---- it's not as 'pretty' looking but it blows away the 444

I know the LOTR SVCD's you are talking about - they played flawlessly on my 343

  6. Thank you Stinky. I shall yell at my retailer as soon as possible and check out your story. If your story checks out, I will no longer own a 444 :)

  7. why shouldn't I use Nero ? Why will VCDeasy be any better ? I have a quite old burner too so it will probably not be supported by VCDeasy.

he he --- you will be much happier with a DV-343

the 444 LOOKS GREAT - it just isn't good for someone who wants to be into VCD/SVCD's ... an it choaks on xVCD's and xSVCD's also!

I swear I just went through this the other day with a friend of mine - we tested everything and it played very little.

I think the 343 is going for 139.00 or so via the internet. I have 3 of them in my house :-)

  10. I am just wondering if the DV-444 can't take the high bitrate....according to biterateviewer LOTR has a peak of 2887Kbps which seams a little high...but hey I haven't tried the DV-444 myself so I don't really know....

  11. I brought over a ton of disks to my friends house (he had just purchased a DV-444) it didn't play any SVCD or xSVCD correctly -- I think it played one of the xSVCD's *kind of* but it stuttered a lot

I would not recommend a DV-444 for anyone who is going to make VCD's or SVCD's or any bitrate
