  1. i got an hp laptop it says that i writes at 8x,but i cant get more then 2x.
    can someone help.

    What speed media are you using? Are you using RW media or R media?

    Then this media is not supported and cheapish too.

    Check whether your drive firmware is up to date.

    Use Nero Infotool or DVDIdentifier or a similar program to see what speed your drive thinks the media can be burned at. If it isn't 8x you need a firmware update.

  6. i am using media memorex at 16x.i check the firmware and it says it is uptodate.i checked with manufature webside already.but on both programs i get at 2x.also on box it says at 8x.and the programs it said it reads at 8x and writes at 2x.

    MEMOREX is crappy media. Test your drive with VERBATIM or TAIYO YUDEN dvd medial. Also check if your drive is in DMA MODE.

    Try VERBATIM first before you decide to pay big bucks for TAIYO YUDEN dvd media. VERBATIM can be bought from stores like BEST BUY, OFFICE MAX & STAPLES. Or you can order both VERBATIM & TAIYO YUDEN from www.rima.com.
