I am a newbie when it comes to the world of subtitle adding so please forgive my newbiness But I downloaded a program called Avi Recomp thinking it would work and i seem to be having a problem...I open it, enter my AVI file, then i hit enable subtitles to add my subtitles, which are in srt. format, then i hit associate with AVI file and nothing....it tells me "unable to create key 'NeroShowTime.Files7.avi/shell/AVIReComp" Can someone please tell me what i am doing wrong? If possible could you please provide a step by step guide to complete the subtitling process? It would be MUCH appreciated since i have many movies i need to subtitle. Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for ANY and all help

Sorry, I don't know much about the program.

You could try asking in their forums: http://www.videopedia.pl/avirecomp/e107_plugins/forum/forum.php

I believe 'Associate with AVI file' is a global setting, so when you right click on any AVI file, you would have AVI ReComp listed in that menu. At least that's how that usually works. Nothing to do with Subs?

When you mention 'Nero Showtime', what type of files are you talking about? I'm thinking the format may be one AVI ReComp doesn't recognize. You might try a test file and sub with a Xvid or similar file.

Generally .srt subtitles are just added to a folder, with the AVI type video file in the same folder. The sub needs to have exactly the same name as the video, IE: Movie.avi and Movie.srt.

At least with the AVI type files I work with, the subs are not part of the video. They are with some other formats, though. Drop your video into Gspot 2.70 and let us know what format you are asking about.

Just some quick info...the file is the following- Sympathy.For.Mr.Vengeance.2002.DVDivX-SKY and it says it's an AVI file when i click on properties. Can i change the end to .AVI? Would that work?

What would work, is to buy it on DVD. Read the rules again. This is not the place to get help with illegal downloads of copyrighted material.
