I recently got a new laptop with Vista. As you probably know, Vista comes with its own new firewall and Windows Defender, both of which I've activated. Is it necessary for me to install my own McAffee firewall and a bunch of antivirus/spyware programs or are these new ones good enough?

Dont do it ... it already runs slow enough with vista on it .
Avgfree works for vista , and has less of a footprint on memory than others , which bog the system down
Adaware se works fine in tests .
As for ms defender ... just another way of ms sticking their hands into peoples pockets and getting more money , when half the problems could have been fixed in the os ... properly and for good .
I like dells move on the linux issue ... good for them , and goodbye to ms crap ... why put up with an os that has had issues , and ms has never done anything to fix them from day dot . -
That's kind of what I was thinking. Does the Windows Firewall offer sufficient protection though?
