I want to put a DVD-Recorder in our church hooked to a camera. I need it to be idiot proof. I'm looking for a unit that you can just push record on the front (OTR), have it record two hours and eject a finalized disc without any intervention. I really don't want to use a monitor, except to set it up initially. Is there a unit that will do that?

    Read through the owner's manuals.
Several will let you set the recording mode to include finalizing after each recording session, at the end of the dvd, or not at all.

  3. Newer Panasonics give you a choice of auto finalize or not. So does the Pioneer 531H hard drive recorder but with the Pioneer you have a choice of menus to select after if you tell it to finalize on its own. Some JVC's like the DR-M70S will also.

  4. Hi Yardline, I know that most Liteon can record on DVD+RWs and doesn't need to be finalized. I think the issue is using DVD+RWs rather than -RWs. Look at models in you area and theirs manuals, "Recording to Disc" section, and you should find one that doesn't need finalizing.

    Good Luck

Hi had a philips 3350 which auto finalised DVD RW + or - (+ do any way). They would be on RW though not R disk if that matters, these RW could be copied to R.
My Sony performs better but only the +RW auto finalise. The sony disks work better in other players. The Philips was very easy to use, but not fantastic quality, good on 1 or 2hr though as with most DVDRW's.
