Read through this to decide whether you want to play with QAM tuning in current buggy state.

You mentioned cable. With the beta software, the HVR-1600 will tune analog and non-encrypted cable digital channels. I'm not sure if Canada cable has non-encrypted digital cable channels. In the US, the cable company can't encrypt channels that are available over the air. -
l installed the card and the cd then l ran a coxial cable from my computer to my satellite receiver and l am watching tv on my computer but l have to change chanels with my satellite remote

Mine is on XP.
Usually when it says to insert the CD, it gives you a browse button. If so browse to the directory that contains the uncompressed install software. -
yes it said it works with vista but it seems that a lot of things on vista are different l wrote a email to hauppauge suport hope to here from them this week l will let you know what info they send me thanks for your help

l'm back l received a new disk from hauppauge 3.4d but l still get the same errors when l try to record.but l can do everything l want to do using windows media center l can record and burn a recorded program.l think l;ll just stay with windows media and forget the software that came with the card thanks

The WinTv software doesn't seem to good to me either.
I had to go to their website to get the latest to even get their hardware working. Makes me wonder how many get returned as bad when it is the software they shipped with it.
XP MCE 2005's Media Center works as your experience bears out. However thebig problem with MC is that it uses a high bitrate when it records the HD channels and the movies done that way need to be either burned to a DL DVD or shrunk.
The good news is they look good. -
l'm going to use windows media center it will do every thing l want to do and it works great.
