    hello,

I have got a Samsung DVD-HR720 DVD recorder and this morning it suddenly has start-up problems.
    This is my problem:
This morning I turned on my DVD recorder and it seemed to be working properly. Only it didn't. It kept displaying "load" and didn't do anything else. So I turned it off and on again. But this didn't work either. Then I pulled out the plug waited some time and put it back in. Still the same problem. It only responds to the on/off button. I can startup with pushing the "open" button, but tis doesn't solve the problem, it only changes the display: now it displays "open".
I noticed that I didn't hear any sounds, only a light "klick" and that's it. Usualy I hear the hard-disk starting up.
Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? I'm not very technical, but can ask for help in that area. So opening up the machine shouldn't be a problem.

    Greetz,

There isn't much you can do to fix problems like this yourself. Time for a repair shop or a replacement.

There very sensitive to power fluctuations known as spikes and brown outs .

If it was not on even a cheap power board with some form of active clamping for spike protection , then you follow Krispy Kritter's advice , and next time , put it on a power board with active spike protection .

I know someone who just blew there $7000 plasma ... and their spitting chips over it .

I told them , but they didnt listen ... next time they might .

    Thanks,
I thought I would have to get it repaired, I just hoped there was another way. Mostly because there is still a DVD in there and I don't want it to get damaged.
So, one more question: Is there any way I can get the DVD out manually?
