    I have a file thath is splitted in wmv.001 and wmv002

    after joining the 2 parts together with Hjsplit, the extension instead becomed "File" (with a broken shortcut) insteasd of what i have hoped for "wmv"
    is there any way possible to make it back to orginal "wmv" still joined?

    (i doubt thath a conversion app will even recognise "File"?)

    Just rename the file.

    I recommend you turn of the "hide extensions of know file types" option in Explorer if you haven't already. That will let you see the extension for all files.
