I have burned several projects on DVD discs using Sonic DVDIt 6.1 to create menus. The video was produced in Premiere 6.5 and exported as MPEG-2, so no transcoding was necessary. The videos all work fine - ALMOST.

The videos work perfectly on most players (XBOX, PS2, several combo TV/DVD brands). However, both of my home DVD players are LG combo VHS/DVD recorders. One is an LRY-517. The other is an RC199H. The menus do not work properly on these. They work the same on both player/recorders. No on-screen menu button is highlighted when the menu is displayed. Pressing the arrow buttons doesn't seem to do anything. Pressing the play button a couple times will get the first title going. However, this does not allow the viewer to choose a different title. All other players always highlight the first on-screen menu button as default and using the arrow buttons causes the selection to change predictably.

Does anyone know why the LG units may not present the menus properly?

    Thanks,

    Mike

My guess is the the CPRM (copy protection) is interfering with the menu. Whenever the LG199H is sluggish, it is usually from bad media or decryption failure. The CPRM fuinctionality is extensive on this recorder. Are the videos copy-ptotected?
