  1. Something funky has been going on with my system, whenever I now try to convert an AVI or MPG file to DVD format.

It has become very slow! I have been using NeroVision, ConvertXtoDVD, DVD Flick, TMPEG, etc for years, but over the last few weeks the encoding times have increased significantly. For example, an average 90-minute AVI would take around 100 minutes to complete. Now, it takes around 180.

What could be causing this? (I have not made any major changes to the system.)

Funky issues can also relate to psu problems .

Like you say you have not made any major changes to the system ... but its those small ones that count over time that tend to come back in numbers ... and they bring their supporters , and groupies with them .

Sometimes slowly ... and sometimes with a thud .

Especially umpteen number of programs being installed over this time tend to leave junk behind in all the right places causing problems within the registry itself .

If that goes south , it pretty well goes down for the final count ... reload os time .

Ps : Clear dust from fans inside case .
