I captured a mini dv tape with Windows Movie Maker, this gave me a single AVI file.
I tried WinDV but a single tape was captured in about more than 40 AVI smaller files, why?
I guess I will use WMM instead, so I don't need to re-join all these avi files that I get with WinDV.

To get a single file with WinDV you need to set the discontinuity threshold to 0 and the max avi size (frames) to something like 150000. "Shut up Wesley!" -- Captain Jean-Luc Picard

Darn, so that means I will have to recapture that tape again..!!

Why? Just import all the files in sequence to Movie Maker. Movie Maker doesn't care if you have one or separate files. Actually separate files work better if you want to trim the clips.Originally Posted by geek2330

Yes. Drag each clip to the timeline in the order you want. You can trim the front or back of each clip.Originally Posted by geek2330

For export use DV-AVI standard not wmv.

It'll work great with the video side, but I'd bet there are glitches at the boundaries of the clips in the audio side.

 Safer alternative is to recapture.

Well, I will just recapture that tape with Windows Movie Maker and get a single continuous AVI file.
