    Hi All,

What is the best NLE or video editing tool to use for Divx videos? I'm trying Ulead Video Studio, but while scrubbing the video, its very slow, and its tedious to find the right location in the file.

Anything that can handle Divx better?

    Thanks,
    -Gus

  2. Virtualdub or Virtualdubmod if you are just interesting in cutting/joining etc, though there's some pretty good filters available for them.

Bottom line : Divx is a very poor format for editing. It is designed for maximum compression for end delivery, not for intermediate storage and editing.

As pointed out, for basic assemble editing (cut out this section, append that clip), Virtualdub is probably your best bet. Try the latest beta with smart rendering and you can edit on non-key frames without re-encoding the whole clip. AVI Demux is another option.

No quality NLE will handle Divx well, because they aren't designed to edit non-editable formats. If you want to use an NEL for this work, use virtualdub to convert the Divx to something lossless first, then bring it into your editor.
