It has worked for me on occasion in the past, but often not. Case in point was some recent CNN news clips. I got the audio this time, but no video. (Isn't it more often the opposite problem ?) If I read the URL bar correctly, the source ended in "rm" -- presumably for Real Media format -- and that might be a clue. Anyway, I installed HiNet Recorder, and that failed to pick up anything. I know there are other desktop recorders, like ReplayAV and SnagIt.
I've been intending to try out some of these programs like Net Transport. Some are supposed to ferret out the real location of the file, and grab it -- regardless of whether or not it is supposed to be accessible to the public. Is there one of these programs that works for pretty much any clip you want to retrieve, and is relatively simple and straightforward to use ?
