    hello :)

I recently converted a folder full of good quality camcorder .MOD files into .VOB.I used Super converter which did the job very quickly but gave poor results. My question is how can i get rid of the blockiness from these files.I have played around with virtualdubmod and the various filters including MSU Deblocker but I can't produce the results I am after.I also stupidly deleted my original .mod folder

    any help much appreciated :)

image below is the worst of the blocking

Use a better mpeg2/dvd converter than Super or increase the video bitrate. Or have you deleted your camcorder source files?

  4. i can't see your image, but i'm usually happy with msu deblocker.

if the blocking is very bad then most of the time you won't get a really great result. once picture detail is gone it can't be magically brought back.

open your file to virtualdub mpeg2

Load the following filters in the specific order:

    deinterlace (unfold)
    MSU Smart Deblocking 0.8
    Video Denoise 2.0
    deinterlace (fold)

see the results. If you don't like them, add

    neatvideo (the free version)

try the various filter presets to see if there are results that you like better.

If you still don't like the results, then learn avisynth and try your luck with the filters they offer there.
