I teach a class and several of my papers are saved as pdf files in one folder. To save time, I need to search all these files at the same time. Can this be done? How? What software? Tutorials on how?
It would save me a great deal of time if I can do this when I am needing material on a particular subject but can't remember exactly where it is.

I would look into Foxit for .pdf files. It's much cheaper than the Adobe programs and the basic freeware reader is faster and uses a lot less resources. http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php It has some additional modules that may help for what you have in mind. Try: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/po_intro.php
Generally, searching multiple .pdf documents for specific words is not going to be easy and I'm not sure any program will do that. But you may be able to set up bookmarks that can reference parts of your documents. I haven't tried any of this, but I would recommend trying Foxit instead of Adobe. -
Temporarily make a "superPDF" of all your papers appended together. Then do a search on that paper. I've appended pages that # in the thousands when all combined. It'll do it, just takes a while to search through all that.

You can also add keywords to the PDF document to make it found from within Windows' search utility (or Sherlock) if the searches are simply for subjects, etc. where you wouldn't have to paraphrase the entire document in the meta.

You can do it in Acrobat 8 pro.Click down arrow in Search Toolbox and pick "Open full search". In Search Window mark "All Documents". Click down arrow and pick last item "Browse for Location". Browser window opens, pick your folder.
I may be wrong but i think this was also in previous versions. The Second Amendment:
