    Hi guys,

First I must say that I'm a newbie.
I wanted to upgrade firmware on my Philips DVP5960 dvd player because the audio was terribly choppy when playing back some DivX.
So, I got the disk, it seemed like the upgrade started but then it just froze, the screen went black (said "no signal") and now the dvd display says "PHILIPS" and the player does not respond to anything, tray is closed and won't open, I can't even turn it off unless I unplug.

Please, help me! I am stuck and don't know what to do!!!

    Thank you!!!!

You have to push one of the buttons on the front.
"...the "HD Upscale" button on the front of the unit had to be cycled."

Thanks for your response, unfortunately this does not solve my problem. The player remains unresponsive, message on the DVD screen remains the same. No luck.

Is return to a store an option?
Don't tell them about your "upgrade", though.

  5. Where did you get that disk?

If you bought it with a credit card, it should be under guarantee for a year or so.
