So i hooked up my SOny Viao laptop with an ATI Radeon 9200 to my Toshiba Rear Projection HDTV via the yellow plug, and my desktop views fine on the TV. However, when i try to watch south park episodes (I beleive DIVX format) i can't get it to show up on my tv. The Windows Media PLayer skin shows fine, but the video inside the skin does not show...its merely a black screen. Any way to solve this? I am running my computer at 800x600 and its putting that out to the tv and it shows fine....i can't go to a lower resolution..my video card doesn't let me.

Codec problem maybe. Test the file with Gpsot and see if you need one.

Enable Theater Mode in the ATI graphics setup applet. Or disable Video Overlay. The former is more efficient but any time you play a video it will be full screen (ie, you can't see the desktop or any video controls on the TV). This is best if you have both a computer monitor and a TV hooked up. The latter is inefficient but you can view video in a window on the desktop and see the transport controls on the TV. This is best if you use a TV as the only display.
