I have a new JVC 48" HDTV-I'd like to use it for my pc monitor. I called JVC and they said it could be done but it was not really set up to handle computer signals. He said to run a DV- TO HDMI line to the digital line input. But' he said the signal would not be so good as the difference in the resolutions would be a problem unless I changed the frequencies-Question-How is this done and is there a convertor that works good to do this? And do the wireless transmitters from the pc to the tv work well?-Any info on this would be appreciated-

Which model JVC?
There are several technologies for HDTV sets. Each differs. -
This is projection model AV-48P776-Also-I don't see any VGA or DVI inputs-but there is a didtal input that JVC said to use-he said it would work but I would not get video in HD and the overall picture quality would be sub-par unless the frequencies were somehow changed-

What is your display card?
I'd be careful about attempting custom scan frequencies. The TV will probably reject them and/or you could do damage to the TV. I'd stick to normal TV emulation until you see somebody else post another method that is proven to work. -
Yes -I am aware of what it is -I do know it can be converted as I spoke with the manufacturer. Fry's electronics have the harware needed- I was kinda looking for someone thats done it already successfully and what the end result was.In other words; if the picture quality is not up to HD standard then it would'nt make sense to do it.-If I was a gamer ; it would be ok to have less resolution.; but not on the videos.but-thanks-

Look into Powerstrip software if you're up to risking the TV. Normally that is used with a VGA or DVI port. HDMI port tables usually reject scan rates that aren't specifically supported. Supported rates are usually listed in the manual. Use 60Hz refresh only with a TV. -
I don't know the output of the display card. The tech people at JVC just said the tv is not setup for computers but it will work to run a DVI TO HDMI line into the digital port -then they said to change the frequencie of the pc-thats it-they did not really want to advise me on this because technically; they don't support it.-I have the complete manual here and there's nothing in there about hooking up computers-It shows all the aspect ratios and the digital setup-how is the frequency changed and if it was changed ;would I end up with the HDTV that I now have.?-If you want me to look something up in the manual; let me know-

Either return the TV or get a display card that supports 720p or 1080i output. -
I'll go with the display card-much easier than moving this monster-they probably have those at Fry's-Hopefully with the card and the right connections inputting the tv; I'll have it-thanks for the help-

A few cards offer HDMI output connectors. In that case you would need a HDMI to HDMI cable. Make sure you test all this within the Fry's return period which may be 15 days.

Good-I have the HDMI cable already-real expensive fiber optic-like 100.00-Think I'll print out this page and take it to Fryes-I'll grab one of their repair techs and take a while to get it right. There are probably a few different ways to go on that; but if I can get away with just picking up a new card and cable-great-much better than buying some expensive convertor-I've seen different ones online-Probably if I had bought the tv a year from now; all those connections would already be there-Just plug and play-Tell me-have you ever set up or seen the wireless transmitters that carry the signal from the pc to the tv?-They want 150.00 for those-it would be nice to not run cables all over-do they work?
