Hi ive got a asf video file which i would like to convert. Ive tries converting to avi but the video comes out very stuttery and unwatchable. Does anyone knoe how i can convert this to a more workable format without making the video stutter or go out of sync?

  2. Most of the time, I will convert .asf to DV using MS Moviemaker.
From DV, you can do anything you want.

You have to use DV for output. MS has not made the DV output selection obvious. When you click 'Save Movie File'. select 'My Computer' as a output location, choose a location and title, then on the next page in 'Other settings', scroll down the list to find 'DV-AVI (NTSC)' Or 'DV-AVI (PAL)'.

I also want to convert my asf videos to mpg . To first convert to DV as mentioned above, where do I get MS Moviemaker? Can I download it and if so , where?? Anything else I can use?? Do I need to go and buy a mpeg converter?

You might try Any Video Converter Free Version. It converts most formats. You can adjust the output quality in the custom settings. (I use the paid version, so not sure about using the custom settings in the free version.)

Windows Movie Maker is available in our 'Tools' section to the left. <<<<
