DivX player not working

Updated to the latest DivX components and player (v 1.3.1), but streaming
video doesn't play the video component. Sound is heard but no video is seen.

For example, none of the sample videos on divx.com's site work (audio but no video):

Rebooted. No joy.

What am I missing?

Maybe you have a competing video plugin or codec that is used instead of the official DivX® one?

I have no clue what would be incompatible. Can anyone suggest which plug-ins in this list are incompatible?
