  1. ok so i had an old drive that i had questinons on, and found it was dying.. So i bought a new one. i need one that would read both dvd-rs and dvd+rs. So i found a..
    Memorex DVD+-RAM 525G V1

Now the drive works great except that fact that it jumps to PIO mode after 3 or 4 burns. i have found that i can just uninstall the driver to the secondary IDE channel and that fixes it for another 3 or 4 burns then i have to do it again. Anyone know the reason for this? anything i need to upgrade to stop this from happening? I returned the first Drive i bought (same one as stated above), incase it was the drive. The new one does the same thing.

I was just wondering if there was a reason this was happening?

  4. I would seriously consider replacing the cable and get an 80 wire one too. Is this drive alone on the cable? I had problems with LG DVD-ROM not playing nice with Plextor drives; tried 2 different models, no luck. Got a Benq, problem fixed.

  5. ive had it alone and with another drive. Either way it still jumps to PIO. WHat about the cords it gives you with the drive. I didnt hook that up, just used the one that was still in the comp. Should i try using the new cord before buying one? you say 80 wire? whats the one that comes with your comp?

You'll need to buy a 80 wire ide cable to use with your new dvd burner. Most new dvd burners require that in order for it to work correctly.

Here's a online shop you could buy from:

    Cost is $1.49 from SVC.com
