  1. Hey Guys,

Im new to all this so take it easy . Anyways, I am trying to convert some AVI files which are about 40 mins long to a DVD. I tried to put 3 of the AVI files on the DVD and the first 2 play fine on my DVD player, but the the last AVI file is always choppy. I thought maybe 3 files were to much so I tried 2 and again the last file is always choppy. Am I doing something wrong or is it the conversion program?

It sounds more like it is the quality of the discs you are using. Especially because it is always the last video that suffers. DVD blanks are created by dropping the dye onto the bottom disc platter and spinning it to push the dye to the outer edges. The top platter is then dropped on and the disc sealed (in a nutshell). If the manufacturing is not up to scratch, the dye at the outer edges is not as consistent as the dye closer to the middle, so the quality of the burn suffers. DVDs burn from the inside to the outside on the first layer, so it is the end of the burn, and therefore the end of the video, that suffers.

The fix is to always buy good quality media, not just the cheapest available. read www.nomorecoasters.com for details on what's what in media land.
