I imported a .mpg video into windows movie maker. The file is there and I can add it to the storyboard and such, but I cannot see the video in either the preview or storyboard. When I play it, the video plays and I am able to hear the audio.

Windows Movie Maker in Vista can do .mpg. I just converted a .pps to .mpg and was properly recognized by WMM.

HopeStaneski , confirm your os , not just as windows .

Windows movie maker under xp can use mpegs , specifically mpeg1 , I do it all the time , but whats being really asked here ???

    Mpeg as in 1 or 2 ?

Mpeg2 might be a different bag , when it comes down to the included audio stream .

Demux the mpeg1 using tmpgenc , and load the video stream into wmm , if it now shows in story board , then work on the audio .

Vobedit , and batchdemux (dvdauthorgui site) can demux mpeg2 into seperate streams .

Then try converting the audio to 44.1khz wav , it usually never fails ... besweet for that .

    See how you go .

    Might be worth a read : http://www.desilucy.com/index.php?lvl=3 ... explains a fair bit .
