What's the "FF application"? What's "dot the extra file thingies"? What 's supposed to happen?

Since illuzion13 is apparently using OS X, it's probably ffmpegx, with the additional support files. This should probably be moved to the ffmpegx forums, if that's the case.

Strange indeed, Quicktime should be able to read any 3gp video.

Here is what I do :
    1) I use FFMpegX (Mac OS X) to convert from 3GP to .mov (mp4)

-> I get a file readable with QuickTime, but not on my DVD player or elsewhere.

    2) With the same software, I convert the .mov (mp4) file to Xvid .avi (mencoder) format.

-> I get an .avi file readable on my DVD player, and everywhere.

    Bye
