  1. I know this may be a stupid question, but, was wondering if there was a way to remove/return a d/l VCD movie back to the way it was originally recorded...ie...removing the cropping/clipping....sometimes some of the movies are soo cropped/clipped that it takes away alot of the viewing area. Was just wonering if this is possible. Thanks

  2. So, what, you're one of those anti-widescreen people aren't you?
Were you planning to make a VCD again? Unless you want a severe case of "egghead" people, you'll have to crop it yourself down to 4:3 ratio, effectively removing half of the picture from the sides. When professional studios do this, they pan and scan to get most of the movie in the frames, even if they have to move from side to side to do it. You won't have that luxury. You'll have to get it in the middle to see anything at all. You'll have to stick it into TMPGenc, select the area to crop, and encode it to full screen VCD aspects. That'll work...but at what price? BUT...AT...WHAT...PRICE?!

  3. I think you misunderstood my question...For the record I am a great fan of the widescreen format...it shows exactly what the director/producer wanted to show...what I am asking is if there is a way to remove SOME of the cropping that was done to theVCD? More to the point, is it possible to remove the cropping/clipping from the bottom of the picture where it is clear that some of the film has been cut due to only half of the credits are available clearly showing that there is more to the picture than what is seen. This particular film is already in 16:9 format for which I am grateful. I would just like a way to see at least the bottom part of the movie too. Thanks

  4. If I understood your question right, if you did some cropping to the VCD before encoding, there is no way you can recover that unless from the original video. But if your original source itself had the cropping done, there is nothing you can do to replace the missing part.

  5. Thanks. That's what I wanted to know. Didn't think I could correct it but was asking anyway...you never know. Thanks again.
