Hello, I just need help on how to resize or what is the standard size for a picture background in DVD's menu (chapters). I'm creating a customized background and want to place it as the background for my dvd menu (chapters) and pardon me coz' am only using nero vision 4 and don't know any other tool. I also tried to resize it as 576x432 but it is still cropped it seems that nero vision by default stretched the picture background regardless of the size. And also tried contacting, emailing tech support of Nero but I've waited for a long time and still haven't receive any replies. I'm hoping to get any help here. Please I really need help, just very eager to customized nero vision's picture background. Many thanks in advance for any replies.

It may not be at all relevant, but GuiForDVDAuthor uses 800x640.

I would expect most apps would come with a few sample templates, if you can find these check out the sizes.

It may not be cropped, you are most likely seeing the results of overscan.

For PAL, 720 x 768 (non-square pixels), for NTSC 720 x 540 (non-square pixels). A good authoring tool will resize appropriately when creating the menus (to 720 x 576 PAL or 720 x 480 NTSC). Can't guarantee what Nero will do.

If you use video outside the correct dimensions then you will most likely get distorted output, regardless of the tool you use.

And you will loose around 10% all around the image to overscan (look it up in the glossary). The only way around it is to get your graphic to the right proportions, then add a border all the way around to push your image inside the overscan region.
