I realize there is a simple answer to this, but I'm functionally retarded: With MPEG2 clips encoded with TEMPGEnc for DVD, can I simply use these clips to convert to MPEG1 for VCD in TEMPGEnc as well? I want to be able to save space by getting rid of my avi's, once I've converted to MPEG2. Thanks!

YES!
It would be just like ripping a DVD only you've got an MPG file instead of a Vob file.
