    You've answered your own question. Junk the pack and only install individual codecs as you need them.

  3. And check your video overlay settings.

  5. Download codecs as you need them. When you run across a video that doesn't play examine it with AVICodec or GSpot. Those tools will tell you what codecs are used in that file.

    Or you can use a player that has codecs built in, then you won't have to download any codecs. VLC or KMPlayer for example.

    So for one file, it said i needed xvid 1.1.2. I downloaded it, and also played in on vlc, but it was still dark and discolored. Is there way to enable the codec or something.

  7. You probably don't have a codec problem but a video overlay problem. Go to the advanced display properties dialog and look for overlay settings for brightness, contrast, etc.

    Thanks, just had to adjust the settings, thanks for the help.
    Just need to fix one more problem, its that when i stream wmp on firefox it causes it to crash. I reinstalled both wmp and firefox, now i have wmp 11 and the plugins but it still crashes. If any1 has encountered this and fixed it would be helpful.

    Just to throw that problem out there.

    @snake2589,

    Microsoft released a new WMP plugin for Firefox on April 13. Platforms are XP SP2 and Vista, 32 or 64 bit. See here for download:

    http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-download.aspx

    I don't remember offhand if I installed from the .exe at the top of the page or from the .xpi about half-way down.

    I installed it about a week ago, then visited a streaming WMP site that had crashed my FF previously, and this time the page played with no problems. I was using FF 2.0.0.3 at the time (since updated to 2.0.0.4) on XP SP2 32-bit.
