    Hi guys,
so I have this divx rip and I want to extract the audio. It's in AC3 (48 000 Hz, 448 Kb/s, 5 channels). I do it in Wavelab the way I do it always, and it always works. Now it doesn't. So I do it in VirtualDub as "Save As WAV"... guess what. Doesn't work either. The file it saves is just a blank file with no audio in it.
Anyone has any idea where might be the catch? Um I don't know the specifications of the AC3 format very well but could it be that I am recording just one of the channels which has no audio in it?
    Cheers,
    Daniel

More likely you have lost/damaged/uninstalled your AC3 codecs.

Can you play the file back and hear the audio ?

Yep, I can hear the audio when playing back the file. But it might be possible that parts of the codec are screwed somehow as this message (the one in red) poped up when I checked the file in g-spot.

Oh c'mon guys. I know this is probably the 2nd most discussed topic around, but bare with me a little while please. I still don't know what to do... I reinstalled the codec but the problem is still there.

You can extract it in VDubMod (streams/stream list/demux), then use something like BeSweet GUI to decompress/downmix.
