  1. I've tried a couple of different methods including using ImgBurn to ISO read/write, DVD Decyptor, as well as PCG Edit to get the ISO file, then using ImgBurn to burn it. I set it to burn and verify. Once the burn process is over, the disc tray opens (not sure if that's supposed to happen) then closes and goes to verify. At some point, I get an I/O error message pop up.

    I/O Error!

I'm using Memorex branded discs that I believe are Riteks D01. After reading a few posts, it would seem that these aren't particularly good media, but there was a sale at Future Shop, $25 for 25, so I decided to go for it and test them out. Had never made a dual layer back up before. I also upgraded to the latest firmware for my Samsung SH-S182D.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I've used Nero and Imgburn without any issues. You could ensure your firmware is the latest version, but I would definetly get Verbatim media.

  4. Dual Layer is way too expensive in Canada, which is why I have pretty much stuck with using DVD Shrink to make my backups and using single layer discs. But, when I saw there was a sale for these Memorex discs ($46 off), I decided to try them out. Guess I should have done my homework first. Maybe, I'll try one more time using Nero to burn and see what happens before I give up completely.

Unfortunatelly Nero does a poor job of DL burning, IMO. It may work sometimes, but ImgBurn never seems to fail....As long as you use good media.

  6. I'm looking at ImgBurn and have read some things about the book type. In the settings menu, it's set to auto change booktype. On the info screen, it still reads dvd+r dl. Is that part correct or is it suppose to say dvd-rom?
