  4. Hmmm. The first one said you were low on drive space, though you shouldn't have been. Did you verify the space after getting the error? There seems to have been a successful conversion of the source on the first run, do you know what the resulting size was for the S2D.mpg?

Another suggestion is to try moving the source file to a different drive and try the conversion again.

I think you did actually run out of disk space... 7+GB for the avi->mpg, then demux, remux & create vobs....

Anyway that implies you were going to a dual layer DVD... Was this your intention? If not then "AutoFit"/Quick DVD should have been used.

  6. Good question Chris. I assumed single layer based on his burner, but not using autifit would use up all the available space.

  7. hi there ppl,

thanks for all your comments i did put it to a different drive but with the same result, i went thru my settings for svcd2dvd i took the tick out of use pulldown im not sure but the quality of the resulting dvd seems a little poor but everything is fine thank god but still couldnt believe it was using near enuf 18gb.

i must say this forum for svcd2dvd is one of the best online help i have ever came across

    thank you very much people

p.s. can anyone suggest where i can get a readme on the proper settings for svcd2dvd shit hot program

    regards

  8. The source file was short enough that you should have gotten a good result (provided that the source was good to start with). Did you push the 'autofit' button on the main screen after adding the file to the VTS? If so, I don't see it using 18GB (am I missing something Chris?).

Unless someone beats me to it, I will try to suggest some settings for you soon as I can get to my copy of the program (at work right now).

For a 2 1/2 hour film 900MB avi is poor quality... You would hope to have such a duration of film arround 1.5GB xViD... You say it is good quality but it is has to be resized to 720x480 for DVD resolution - is the avi still good if you maximise WMP (or whatever) on your PC? Because this is esentially what you are doing when converting to DVD.... You would be better getting a hogher quality source as a starting point.

  13. Basic settings:

    Video Encoding:
Check 2 Pass encoding - all others unchecked
(I have never used the matrix settings, you will need to ask someone else for pointers there)
    Audio Encoding:
AC3 or Mpeg Audio should be ok for you, AC3 takes up less space.

Menu encoding - Choose PAL Menu.
