I have recently gotten involved with a project that requires chroma keying software, using green screen. I was planning on using Serious Magic software, as it seems like the easiest to use, with virtual sets etc. Well low and behold, Adobe has bought out Serious Magic, and raised the price through the roof ($1000 plus) to where I cant afford it. I've downloaded a software called "FX Home Composite labs" that is going to take me months to figure out how to use, but is more in my price range. (Around $150)
The question I have is have any of you worked with chroma keying and what is an cheap easy to use software that you don't have to get a four year degree to use.

The television station I worked for used Ultra almost exclusively for their keying. It's a pretty good program with a shorter learning curve than most keying programs. If you're interested in getting your hands on a copy of SM Ultra, you can check out videoguys.com as they seem to still have copies of it.
Alternatively, I use After Effects exclusively in my studio. It's a little harder to learn but you have unlimited flexibility.
I've seen good results out of FXHome, but have never given it much of a workout since AE has always served my needs. From what I've seen, it has a learning curve a bit steeper than Ultra
