Does your cable box need to be set up to use component instead of HDMI? Some boxes have a 'hidden' set up menu you access by turning the box off.

1. Changed the input setting in the Intensity Control Panel to HDMI video/audio.
2. Checked the inputs with the camcorder connected via HDMI (not component RGB). The video captured perfectly with both BMD Media Express and Cineform HDLink. Both were set at 1080i. Nothing new here. That's what I normally use the card for.
3. Disabled the BMD Decklink audio driver via the Windows Control Panel, just to make sure this wasn't causing a problem.
4. Disconnected the camcorder, changed the input in the Intensity Control Panel to Y, R-Y, B-Y/analog audio.
5. Connected the cable box via RGB component. The cable box was set to a fixed output of 1080i. Now HDLink and BMD Media Express both previewed and captured fine.
That says to me that it's not copy protection. There's some kind of bug in the BMD Intensity Pro driver that makes it unable to sync properly, under certain circumstances. Another test might be to change the cable box to different output settings (720p, 480i, 480p) and change the input settings to match, just to see what happens.
I'm still tinkering to see if I can see a pattern and be more helpful, but keep in mind, I'm use the card for video work, not recording HDTV, so I will prolly give up pretty easily. -
"Note that the HDMI source device should be plugged into the Intensity card and powered up before the PC is turned on. "
This is from the Cineform tech support website. Maybe the same thing needs to be done with a cable box. The order should be: turn the box on, plug the RGB component cables into the Intensity Pro and last, turn on the computer. In any case, it does appear that there may be a syncing problem with the Intensity Pro, under certain circumstances. -
I've Had a Intensity Pro For A Little Over a Year Now,
And I Use it to Record 720p from Xbox 360, PS3, and Digital/HD Cable (Cox Communications, Motorola 6416 Rev. III) YPrPb Inputs.
Record to the MJPEG Codec then Compress to DiVx/MP3.Windows 7 Ult.64,MSI K9N Plat. SLi,Athlon64X2 6000+@3.2GHz, 2GB DDR2 XMS2, eVGA GF8800 GTS SSC 640MB, Intensity Pro 10-Bit HDMI Video, Creative XFi Fata1ity Plat. -
I've stopped using the intensity pro and bought a hauppauge HD-PVR
Both are excellent at what they do, but be warned, you need a beefy PC for the intensity pro.
I'm capturing gaming video from my PS3 using HD-PVR and it does a great job.
I even have a youtube channel:

I just wish I knew how YT compressors work. They do a brilliant job.
If I upload a 500mb video, YT will compress is further and get it down to less than 100mb. It looks a little worse for it, but not much.
I highly recommend the hd-pvr. -

The intensity is a good card seeing as it allows you to capture uncompressed or compressed and works with XP/Vista/7. On a side note, if anyone is interested in a Black magic Intensity pro, I have that I am looking to sell.
