'Allo once again,
Gots a quick question pertaining to XP SP2 user accounts.
Where on earth do you or how can you turn them off?
When my buddies computer boots up, it stops at the login screen with the default admin account. He assigned no password to it so he just clicks the account and XP boots up. He would rather just have it boot right into windows. I went into the control panel, user accounts and either I am in the wrong place or I just cant remember how to do it because it doesnt seem to be there.
Any light on this issue would be, as usual, greatly appreciated.
LG

You're probably in the right place, but you need to delete all user acounts except the one that is normally used (whichever one you usually click on). Of course, if those other user accounts have data that data will e deleted when the user accounts are deleted. Also, make sure that the final remaining account is desigated as a Computer Administrator, although I suspect that XP won't let you not have a computer administrator account.

Here's what worked for me, from annoyances.org: http://www.annoyances.org/
Obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI.
Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
Expand the Logon branch, and click Autologon.
Turn on the Log on automatically at system startup option, type your username and password, and click Ok. -
SP2 does it a bit different, turn off fast user switching, you may also have to turn off the welcome screen.

Direct Bootup Without Typing Password
1. At a command prompt, type "control userpasswords2" and press Enter to open the Windows 2000-style User Accounts
application.
2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then
click OK.
3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name and password for the account you want to be
logged on each time you start your computer.Google is your Friend -
MS has changed how XP boots with user accounts and passwords with different versions of the .net framework. Your best bet is to download the latest tweakui.exe (part of Microsoft's XP PowerToys utils) and set the default log on details there.
