How to install a decoder

Hi!
Trying to watch a QT clip encoded with H264, but it turns out all overexposed-yellowish in QT (non-pro).
1) Can it be due to that I don't have H264 decoder installed?
2) If I dowload ffdshow decoder, for example from here, where should I put it?

1. No. Quicktime player has a h264 decoder.

Try media player classic and quicktime alternative instead.
