I have a avi file that I can play using windows media player. However, only the first 25 frames get played while I know there're a lot more frames in the file. I tried to open the file in other applications like VitualDub and Matlab, they all show that there are only 25 frames in the file. I'm guessing that the header is messed up. But I have little clue of how to edit the header in order to play the other frames. I'd greatly appreciate your insight and expertise. Thanks.

Most likely you are screwed and will have to source a new version. However before giving up in despair, try

 1. Scanning for bad frames in virtualdub
 2. Opening it in AVI Demux - it seems to detect and fix a few things others wont

How big is the file ?Read my blog here.

The scan showed no bad frames. The file is about 420MB. More ideas and suggestions are greatly appreicated.Originally Posted by guns1inger
