i recently tried to play some vcds in my wifes windows 98 loaded notebook and windows said 'no combination of filters could render the stream' or something to that effect... i tried the save disks on my w2k machine and same message. it was weird because i could play vcds fine in the past on my machine.

so i threw in one of my old vcds and poof.. it worked.. so i wondered what was different about them.... well..

the old disks were burned with nero using mpeg files and its vcd template. those disks work fine.. even one i recently createdt hat way

but the ones that wouldnt play with wmp are the ones i authored with tsvc/vcdimager and burned the cue bin with nero. i downloaded the new nero and gave that a shot (supposed to be better at cue/bin) and no luck there either

the vcds (old and new) play in my dvd player fine.. they also (old and new) play in software dvd players as well. but only the pure nero created ones play in windows media player.
i havent tried another burning software app because i only have nero and cdrdao. i end up with buffer underruns 100% of the time with cdrdao (0% of the time with nero) so i stick with nero

im wondering if anyone else has authored a vcd with tsvc but burned it with a different app perhaps has had more success .... or if anyone knows a way to get around this issue... her laptop is too slow for commercial software dvd players(they use more cpu time to play mpeg1s than wmp)
