So you have your AV-in on the VCR connected to the AV-out on your TV ?

Hi guns1inger, thank you soooooo much for responding so quickly I can make it record if I have the plugs the opposite way to what you are saying but then to view it I have to swap the plugs to AV out on the DVD/VCR and AV in on the TV??? There's gotta be an easier way!

What are you using as a source: cable/rf; AV1 (terminals on the back of the unit); AV2 (terminals on the front of the unit)? If AV1 or AV2, what are you connecting to those terminals: DVD recorder; camera; etc?

Or are you trying to record to VHS tape what you see on the television (using your TV as the source)?

You have two different signals you have to deal with, so you have to connect both up. You need one set for inputs to the VCR for recording, and another set as outputs from the VCR for viewing. They are not bi-directional. Your manual will show you exactly how to connect everything up.
