  1. I have 5 .mpg files captured from satellite, totalling just over 7gb.
I am trying to burn them to a Verbatim +DL as working backup files, using
ImgBurn, latest version. I'm burning with a Pioneer 111D with 1.29 firmware.

Windows XP Home, and I'm in DMA mode on all drives.

No problems previously burning Video/Audio movie folders to DL, nor burning anything to single layer, just these .mpgs.

Ruined three disks trying to do this. Twice, there was no selection screen to choose
the layer break. Another effort managed to burn to 85%, then just sat there doing
    nothing.

    I get this popup error:

    I/O Error!

    Device: [1:0:0] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D 1.29 (N) (ATA)
    Scsi Status: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition

    CDB: BF 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00 0C 00 00
Interpretation: Send DVD Structure - DVD+R DL Boundary Information

    Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 0E 00 00 00 00 73 03 00 00 00 00 75
    74 00 00
    Interpretation: Power Calibration Area Error

I finally just burned them to single layer TY disks and it worked fine as usual.

What am I doing wrong here? I have other file types I'd like to store on DL,
    but not at this price.

ImgBurn isn't really necessary for burning data discs, but I don't use anything else for burning DVD format discs. A few suggestions, one of which may help:
    1) Try upgrading your firmware. This kind of error can be caused by firmware.
    2) This kind of error can also happen depending on what speed you are burning at. 2.4 speed works really well for Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. If you are trying 4x or more, try burning slower.
