  1. Hi there,

I am a new DVDLab user (using the studio version, but I think these questions would be the same in Pro) and I'm running into two problems.

The first is with playlists. I have a number of playlists with 3-4 short clips, and after the playlist is done, I want to go back to the root menu. I drew the connection in Connections from the playlist back to root, but when I play the disc, it doesn't work -- it just plays the next title in order after the last clip. Am I missing something? Is there a work around of some kind?

The second is more of a design issue, and it seems really stupid, but it's a big roadblock to this DVD looking as I'd like. My background menu color is kind of mauvish, and I'm using plain white text as buttons. But I can't seem to find a "selected" color that doesn't make the text look all -- rough around the edges, and generally icky and unprofessional. I've tried both aliased and antialiased, and everything looks fine on the computer screen. It even looks fine on the TV screen in DVDLab if I use my TV out function. But when the DVD is authored, it looks awful again. Is there any sort of secret to picking colors? I do have "NTSC safe" selected in the properties. (I can post screencaps somewhere if it would help.)

    Any help is appreciated.

Please post picture of your connection window. I use Pro, but Playlist has only Root Menu option to connect to.
I do not understand how can it play next title.
As for colours, did you try different font? How large is you text?

I agree that a connections window screenshot would help.

In DLP, between the connections window and the assets window, is a small window that allows you to set certain parameters for objects int he connections window. Click on your playlist object, and you can set the End Link Action for it. This can be another object, or a menu. If you select a menu you will also get the option of setting which button the user should be on when it returns there.

As for your fonts issue - I cannot replicate it. All the fonts I have tried have produced smooth edges for the buttons. Some software players do render rough edges for the sub-pictures, but not on my TV. Are you using standard fonts, or something downloaded from a free font site ?

I think I know what you mean about rough edges on text. I think it is a font. I was watching Letters from Iwo Jima and on 32"TV subs show like they were made from boxes, yet on computer screen you cannot see it. Subs are white. I have never seen this before.
For more info check manual for DVD Lab under Subtitles, you will find it in Movie folder, there is more explanation about fonts and how it will show.
