  1. I have a couple AVI files that a friend of mine ripped from a DVD using mencoder. Aside from the various special features and little videos, the main files are both the same primary video, one with the normal audio and one with the commentary audio.

Well, no reason having the video twice, right? So can anyone point me in the right direction for converting these two AVI files into an MKV with two audio tracks? I'd prefer Mac and/or Linux tools (can mencoder do it?), but I can make use of a Windows machine if I have to. Thanks.

  2. MKVToolnix (Linux, Windows, MacOS).
    AVI-Mux GUI and VirtualDubMod (Windows).

    From MEncoder docs:
14.1.11.3. Muxing into the Matroska container
    ...
The tools required to create Matroska files are collectively called mkvtoolnix, and are available for most Unix platforms as well as Windows. Because Matroska is an open standard you may find other tools that suit you better, but since mkvtoolnix is the most common, and is supported by the Matroska team itself, we will only cover its usage.

The avi container supports multiple audio tracks, so you don't have to use mkv to do this.
