Wondering if anyone can help with this. Just got myself a Samsung DVD-R155 DVD recorder that upscales normal DVDs. Got this hooked up via HDMI to my TV. The picture is fine on 576P, but when I change it to output at 720/1080i the screen gets bad interference and I keep losing the picture.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Yes you got one of the new DVD recorders that recently hit the market and I posted a link in this thread I started here: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic329578.html

I would think you have a defective unit or that capability was not properly implemented. I know for a fact that your unit does not handle pass-thru HiDef signal to the TV. It down-samples HiDef from 1080/720 to 480i then tries to upscale back to 1080/720. Sounds like it does not handle the up-sampling very well. This is so retarded. Why not allow these recorders to do a natural pass-thru of HiDef signal. Instead of taxing the system to so many conversions internally ( ). Really stupid. Honest truth is the manufacturers are in cohutz with the movie studios. They are so scared we are going to record their precious movies that they refuse to implement a recorder that can record a HiDef stream.

May want to return and try another unit and if the same results you know the upscaling was not properly done. Uh, also make sure to use a good set of cables (HDMI or Component). Could make a difference.

Took it back and exchanged it for the same model, but it still has the same problems. Taking it back for a refund.
