  1. How do you do this? >_>'

I've got this DVD here (Howl's Moving Castle). I want to encode it into ipod-compatible MP4 with hardcoded subs... but I can't figure out how to do it. The subs have to appear on my iPod.

Tried dvdfab or nero recode or clonedvd mobile or fairuse wizard? I think all can include the subs while converting the dvd to ipod. Trial downloads available for all...and you can get fairuse wizard free also.

Or you could use autogk and convert to avi divx/xvid with subs and then reconvert to ipod mp4.

  3. But ponder that I want to use a AVC Gui like Staxrip or MeGUI. Any way to do it? >_>'

I have bad experiences with non-Guis (crappy quality).

  5. Is it a GUI and can it encode in MP4?

  6. MeGui is a GUI (as the name suggests...). It is quite complex, as it uses a real bunch of 'helper' applications (avisynth, ffmpeg, mencoder, neroaac.....). The results are very good, if it is used properly. Have a look at the guides.
